Local funds available in Gotherington and Brockworth Image

Local funds available in Gotherington and Brockworth

Community groups in Gotherington and Brockworth are being asked to express an interest for funds that could make a real difference to local projects in the two areas.

Both Gotherington and Brockworth have seen a number of new homes introduced recently and, as a result of Section 106 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, Tewkesbury Borough Council has collected contributions from the developers to invest back into local community projects.

As a result of a new council policy, groups can now express an interest in the funds resulting from Section 106 agreements, where the fund allocation is not explicit.

Expressions of interest will need to highlight that a need in the community has arisen as a result of new housing development. The closing date for expressions of interest is Monday 14 January, 2019.

Councillor Kay Berry, lead member for communities, said: “More than £32,000 has been put aside for community, sports and recreation facilities in Gotherington and more than £172,000 has been allocated for playing field improvements in Brockworth.

We would love to hear from local groups who can demonstrate how they can meet the needs of the community who have, and will move into, these areas.” To find out more and to make an expression of interest, please call your Local Community and Place Development Officer on 01684 295010 or visit: www.tewkesbury.gov.uk/section-106-expression-of-interest-form.
