How our bigger estate agent family brings all-round benefits

Peter Ball & Co is part of the Alexander & Co family of estate agents: a family that’s still growing across the country, but what are the benefits of a bigger branch network to our clients as we work to make the property journey easier?

Offering greater breadth

We now operate as Alexander & Co and Peter Ball & Co from 12 offices, stretching from Dunstable to Tewkesbury and Cheltenham to Brackley. While we cover a greater geographical area, we still offer local, personal knowledge across all our offices, and thrive on being involved in the communities where we live and work.

If it isn’t broken…

When a new estate agency business joins the group, there’s no need for us to interfere with its existing ethos. Julian Carter of Peter Ball & Co explains why: “We only bring on board businesses with an excellent reputation and similar culture to ours. It stays a local business, with local people who work with a customer centric approach.”

The name on the sign above the door changes, but it’s still the same individuals who have worked there for years. As a group, we aim to add value to the communities where we live and work. It’s a business built on local community, recommendations and reputation.

Developing the people behind the service

As the group increases in size, so has the investment in our people. Julian picks up this point: “All our teams know the business has a clear direction, and there’s the support in place to help individuals develop, including structured, formalised training, such as ARLA and NAEA qualifications. The welfare of everyone in our teams is also key.”

Our goal is to be the agent of choice for both property owners and talented professionals. “Ultimately, teams with greater knowledge will give clients even more confidence in what we do day to day,” Julian adds. “Enhanced support and skills development mean people feel valued, and are able to advance and take advantage of opportunities across our group. And, of course, this helps with retention across our teams.”

Investment across the network

There’s also been more investment in IT, plus an updated CRM system for the whole agency network, all focused on ensuring we offer a top-level customer experience. By sharing a large database, we can help people move from one part of the country to another, from Buckingham to Cheltenham, for example (or move locally, of course, as is more often the case).

Updated and improved office environments (including air conditioning) mean that teams are even happier and more comfortable at work, with a positive knock-on effect to the service clients receive.

The group is focused on keeping the businesses joined up; so if people want us to help them sell their house or find a new home, we can assist them in a one-stop-shop capacity thanks to our bigger network and local knowledge.
